WordPress 2.5.1 has been released

I must say I’m no longer surprised as the guys over at Wodpress.org have gotten accustomed to having a big release and soon afterwards releasing an update. I’m really impressed by their work and how fast things move with them, but nevertheless here’s what WordPress 2.5.1 gets fixed :

• Performance improvements for the Dashboard, Write Post, and Edit Comments pages.
• Better performance for those who have many categories
• Media Uploader fixes
• An upgrade to TinyMCE 3.0.7
• Widget Administration fixes
• Various usability improvements
• Layout fixes for IE

WordPress 2.6 – some info on what’s to come

WordPress 2.5 has already brought a ton of new features and improvements, what could be updated in WordPress 2.6, you say ? Well, to find out you should watch this movie – it features Matt at WordCamp Dallas talking about WordPress 2.6 .

It looks like at WordCamp Dallas, Matt also talked a bit about WordPress 2.6 and what’s to come. Throught the video, Matt touches a few points on WordPress Stats , Marketplace and the possibility of posting on WordPress powered blogs via a cell phone. That would be a really nice touch that would get every blogging freak excited – including me.

The perfect place for WordPress freelancers

As of the start of the past month, a new site was born, a perfect place for WordPress lovers – both webmasters and developers. This site is called WordPressFreelance and from the looks of it, there are already several people interested in getting custom WordPress work done.

The kind of projects you’re going to find on this site, range from one time jobs to full time. Although this is a fairly new site, I’m more than sure it will soon start to grow in popularity. bbPress 0.9 has been released

As of today, bbPress 0.9 has been released. For those of you that didn’t knew, bbPress is a forum solution created by the WordPress development crew, which blends in nicely with WordPress.

Improvements and changes include:

• New installer:
  • Creates your bb-config.php file for you when possible.
  • Allows for setting up integration with WordPress at install time.
  • Supports languages other than English when language translations are available.
  • Looks pretty.
• Additional RSS feeds for views.
• A “new topics” RSS feed, available on the front-page and on each forum. This feed only returns the first post from each new topic as it is created, instead of all posts.
• More configurable <title> tag available to themes.
• More secure authentication cookies which are compatible with WordPress 2.5
• Passwords now stored using “phpass” hashing library instead of md5.

WordPress 2.5 is finally here

According to Lorelle who is at WordCamp Dallas, WordPress 2.5 has been finally released to the public. And it looks like WordPress.org has also got a new snazzy design to match with the color scheme of their new WordPress update. Lovely.

WordPress 2.5 is the result of 6 months of hard work from the WP community. It features multi-file uploading, image galleries, one-click plugin installs, customizable dashboard and a cleaner look.
