Zemanta, the content suggestion engine for WordPress

Techcrunch announced today something that could possible become one of the newest features for WordPress. Zemanta, is a content suggestion engine that works like a charm for most known blogging platforms, including WordPress, supporting also Blogger and TypePad. Unfortunately, it only supports a single browser : Firefox, but it’s understandable as it’s still in beta-testing. While playing around with it a bit I noticed that it did not only suggest relevant links from other blogs, but also photos and tags – a nice addition for WordPress powered blogs.

How it works

For starters, you’ll have to install a small Firefox extension which can be found here : Download Zemanta, no blog plugins are necessary, just the Firefox extension. Install it and afterwards restart Firefox, login to your Dashboard, and go to Write -> Write Post and watch Zemanta at work.

P.S : It will only start to actually ‘suggest’ when you overcome the limit of 300 characters.

I have to say that I’m more than impressed by this plugin, it gets images from Flickr and Wikipedia and tries to match them to the content. Really impressive.

As I’m writing this article I’m enjoying Zemanta and its features. Here are a few screenshots to watch it in action :
