According to Lorelle who is at WordCamp Dallas, WordPress 2.5 has been finally released to the public. And it looks like WordPress.org has also got a new snazzy design to match with the color scheme of their new WordPress update. Lovely.
WordPress 2.5 is the result of 6 months of hard work from the WP community. It features multi-file uploading, image galleries, one-click plugin installs, customizable dashboard and a cleaner look.
Here’s a teaser from the official WordPress Blog : WordPress 2.5, it’s a video presented by Matt Mullenweg with the new features of WordPress 2.5.

Techcrunch announced today something that could possible become one of the newest features for WordPress. Zemanta, is a content suggestion engine that works like a charm for most known blogging platforms, including WordPress, supporting also Blogger and TypePad. Unfortunately, it only supports a single browser : Firefox, but it’s understandable as it’s still in beta-testing. While playing around with it a bit I noticed that it did not only suggest relevant links from other blogs, but also photos and tags – a nice addition for WordPress powered blogs.
How it works
For starters, you’ll have to install a small Firefox extension which can be found here : Download Zemanta, no blog plugins are necessary, just the Firefox extension. Install it and afterwards restart Firefox, login to your Dashboard, and go to Write -> Write Post and watch Zemanta at work.
P.S : It will only start to actually ‘suggest’ when you overcome the limit of 300 characters.
I have to say that I’m more than impressed by this plugin, it gets images from Flickr and Wikipedia and tries to match them to the content. Really impressive.
As I’m writing this article I’m enjoying Zemanta and its features. Here are a few screenshots to watch it in action :

Jai over at BlogOhBlog is holding yet another amazing competition in which you can win a copy of his famous True Blogger theme, a really nice web 2.0 theme, worth $79.99.
Short theme review
The theme comes with BBC news style ticker and jQuery based scrollable news section, plus it’s widget ready.
It features 4 spots for 125×125 ads, a nice blue layout and a big RSS button on the left side.
The comments are stylized to make the theme even more unique; comments and trackbacks come separated by default.

You can see the live demo of this theme here : Demo.
How to enter the competition
To enter, you have to simply write a short blurb on your blog linking to the competition, the winner will be randomly chosen from all the entries. The final date to enter the competition is April 5, 2008. Good luck to everyone.
Just two days ago, Blogperfume announced their latest release : SilveRay – a free wordpress theme featuring a nice blend of grayish colors with a twist of yellow, this theme is one of a kind.
It’s a 3 column theme, comes with a 300 x 300 banner spot predefined ( could be easily changed to fit two 125×125 smaller banners ), it’s valid XHTML and CSS and comes bundled with SweetTitle tooltip & LiveClick.
It’s a bit heavy on the gradients, but I think that’s just my point of view, beautiful background pattern, clean layout and nicely blended footer make it all worth it.
More than that, it has a few features that I haven’t seen in many themes, like : paginated posts, and the hover effect they’ve incorporated in this theme makes it even more sweet than before.
